General Questions

Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp.). It uses a constellation of over 7,000 small satellites in low-Earth orbit (approximately 550km altitude) to deliver high-speed, low-latency broadband internet to homes, businesses, RVs, ships, and aircraft worldwide. Unlike older geostationary satellite internet providers, Starlink's satellites orbit much closer to Earth, resulting in significantly faster speeds (up to 400 Mbps) and much lower latency (20–40ms vs. 600ms+).

Traditional satellite providers like HughesNet and Viasat use geostationary satellites that orbit at 35,000+ km above Earth. This distance causes very high latency (500–600ms) and limited speeds. Starlink's low-Earth orbit satellites (550km) deliver 20–40ms latency and speeds up to 400 Mbps — making it dramatically faster and more responsive. Starlink is better for streaming, video calls, gaming, and working from home than legacy satellite providers.
Starlink covers 99%+ of the contiguous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as over 100 countries globally. However, specific availability depends on satellite capacity in your local area. Some regions may experience wait times if local satellites are at capacity. Call us at +1 (888) 271-2060 and we'll verify availability at your exact address immediately.
Starlink Residential plans typically deliver download speeds between 50–400 Mbps, with average speeds of 100–200 Mbps for most users. Upload speeds are 10–20 Mbps. Latency is 20–40ms. Actual speeds vary depending on your location, local satellite congestion, time of day, obstructions (trees, buildings), and your specific plan type. Business Priority plans offer more consistent speeds of 135–310 Mbps.

Pricing Questions

Starlink residential plans currently start at $50/month for Residential Lite and $120/month for the standard Residential plan. Roam plans start at $165/month. Business Priority plans start around $250/month. Enterprise plans are priced annually with custom quotes. Equipment (dish + router) costs $349 one-time for standard kits, with higher-end hardware up to $2,500. A demand surcharge may apply in high-demand areas. Taxes and shipping are additional. All prices are subject to change by Starlink/SpaceX.
Starlink residential and Roam plans are month-to-month with no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees. You can pause or cancel your service anytime through your Starlink account. If you cancel within 30 days and return your equipment in good condition, Starlink offers a full hardware refund. Enterprise plans have a 12-month minimum term.
Starlink Residential plans are unlimited with no hard data caps. However, Residential plans include 1TB of priority access data per month. After that, during peak congestion, your speeds may be temporarily deprioritized (reduced), but you won't be cut off. Business Priority plans have defined data allotments and speeds are throttled to 1 Mbps if you exceed them (as of 2025). You can purchase additional data. Enterprise plans use fixed annual data pools.
In areas with high demand for Starlink service, SpaceX may charge a one-time demand surcharge of $100–$250 when you sign up for a new residential service plan. This fee helps manage local network capacity. It is charged by Starlink/SpaceX directly, not by us as a reseller. Not all areas have this surcharge — we can check for your specific address when you call.

Installation Questions

Setup typically takes 30 minutes or less. Your Starlink kit arrives with the dish, router, power supply, and cables. You'll use the Starlink app to scan your proposed placement location and verify an unobstructed sky view (the app's Obstruction tool helps). Mount or place the dish in an open area, connect the cables, plug in the router, and follow the app's guided setup process. Our team can walk you through each step.
The dish needs a clear, unobstructed view of the sky — trees, chimneys, buildings, and other structures can interfere with the signal. Most customers mount the dish on their roof, on an exterior wall, or on a pole in an open area. The higher the placement, generally the better the signal. The Starlink app has an Obstruction Viewer tool to help you find the ideal spot before installation. We can advise on optimal placement for your property.
Starlink is designed for all-weather use. The dish is rated for temperatures from -30°C to +50°C (-22°F to 122°F), handles heavy rain, sleet, and winds. It has built-in heating to automatically melt snow and ice. Heavy storms, thick cloud cover, or extreme weather may cause brief slowdowns or interruptions, but generally Starlink maintains service in most weather conditions that would leave traditional internet working.
Yes, you can update your service address in your Starlink account. Residential plan service is tied to a registered address, but the dish hardware can be moved. If you're moving temporarily, Roam plans are designed for portable, on-the-go use. Keep in mind that changing your address to a new area may affect pricing, availability, and whether a demand surcharge applies.
